Chores that teach kids how money works

Kids do jobs, you check them, and they earn into Spend, Save and Give jars, plus a sticker pack to open for every job. No bank cards and no real money moving: just a family ledger that makes earning, saving and giving make sense.

Invite-only for now.

How it works

  1. 1

    Post chores

Add jobs with a price: one-offs, repeating chores, or a job board anyone can grab.

  2. 2

    Kids do them

On the family tablet, kids tap their name, type their PIN and tap “I'm done!” when a job is finished.

  3. 3

    You check, they earn

Approve the job (or send it back with a note). Pay lands in their Spend, Save and Give jars.

  4. 4

    Packs to open

Every approved job also earns a sticker pack to open and collect in their sticker book.

For parents

  • A little economicsStart with a weekly allowance or pay per job. Premium adds more: a shared Family Fund, taxes, savings interest and loans.
  • Saving with a goalKids set goals, watch their Save jar grow and move money between jars themselves.
  • Made for familiesInvite a co-parent and see everything that happened in one activity feed. With Premium, kids in two homes can have both households.
  • Private by designNo kid emails, no photos of kids, and every family's data is private to that family.

Questions

What is AllowBoard?

A chore chart, allowance tracker and sticker book in one. Kids earn by doing jobs, split what they earn into Spend, Save and Give, and learn how money works along the way.

Does it hold or move real money?

No. AllowBoard is a family ledger: it keeps track of what each kid has earned and where it is. When a kid wants to spend, you pay them the real money and record it in the app.

Do my kids need a phone or an email?

No. Pair a family tablet or phone once, and kids sign in by tapping their name and typing a short PIN. They never need an email address.

Who is Pika?

A pika is a small, round mountain animal, related to rabbits. Pikas don't sleep through the winter, so all summer they gather grass and flowers and store them in “haypiles” to live on when the snow comes. They're nature's savers.Pika is also our family dog. Feeding and walking her were our kids' very first chores, and the start of this whole idea. Now she's the rarest sticker in the book. Can your kids find her?

Can kids buy sticker packs?

Never. Packs are only earned, by finishing jobs and hitting milestones, and the odds are the same for every family.

Can two parents use it?

Yes. Invite a co-parent with a code from Family & devices. With Premium, kids who live in two homes can have a household for each, each with its own chores.

Is it free?

Yes, the core app is free. Premium adds extras: more economies (a Family Fund, auctions, taxes), savings interest, loans, two households and the sticker studio. Premium never changes sticker packs or odds.

How do I join?

AllowBoard is invite-only for now. If you've been sent an invite code, tap Grown-up sign in, then “Have an invite code? Sign up”.
